Google Form Survey for EHS 2021-22 School Year- In Person or Distance Learning Due May 28, 2021

As we close out the 2020-21 school year, we are making plans for next year.  For the 2021-22 school year, we are expecting that all ECS schools will be back to a regular in-person full-day schedule five days a week.  Eureka High will return to our normal bell schedule 8:30am to 2:27pm on Mondays and 8:30am to 3:32 pm, Tuesdays through Fridays.  We are excited to have all of our students return to campus.

EHS strongly encourages all students to return to full time in-person instruction for the 2021-22 school year.  As a reminder, all students 12 years and older can now receive the Pfizer vaccine.  Please work with your healthcare provider or contact public health at 441-5000 with any questions regarding the vaccine. Students who have in-person classes will have access to all available class offerings.

EHS will be offering a distance learning (DL) option with significantly limited course offerings.  Many courses are very difficult to deliver in a DL or hybrid format where a large number of the students are in person and a small number are DL.  Students will follow the regular bell schedule. The option to be in DL will also be dependent on the number of students requesting it.

Students on DL:

  • May have a dedicated DL class (for example all DL English students in a dedicated DL class)
  • May have a hybrid class (similar to current format)
  • Attend school daily and follow the daily schedule
  • Have access to courses that meet graduation and A-G requirements
  • Have limited math and World Language offerings for 9th graders

Students on DL will not:

  • Have shop based electives such as wood, auto or welding
  • Access hands-on electives such as pottery, culinary or floral design
  • Be able to enroll in lab-based science classes

Other considerations:

  • We are currently evaluating if DL students will be able to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities
  • Students on DL this spring, who are not successful- failed classes, below a 2.0 grade point average or chronically absent will not be eligible for DL next year

The choice to enroll in DL will be for the entire 2021-22 school year.  Parents/guardians will sign a contract indicating that their student will be on distance learning for the 2021-22 school year.  Contracts are due by Friday, May 28th.

We will be sending out a Google Form survey to all parents and guardians of current in-person students that have an email address in PowerSchool where you can indicate whether your student will be returning to in-person school for the 2021-22 school year.  Parents/guardians of current DL students will receive a phone call or Google Form survey.  If we do not receive a response regarding your student, the default will be in-person classes.
