Frieda Estrada Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is sponsored by Karina Estrada, EHS graduate of 2002, in memory of her mother, Frieda Estrada in the amount of $1000.* This scholarship is designed for young high school women in grades 9 through 12 who would like to study abroad. The aim is to prepare young women to be leaders in a global world and to provide opportunities that will spark a lifetime interest in language and cultural learning. Previous language study is not required, and language learners of all levels are encouraged to apply. 


How to Apply

If you have a passion for travel and want to immerse yourself in a foreign culture, this scholarship may be for you. Please submit an essay including the following information: 

1. Your name and contact information 

2. Why you want to study abroad 

3. What country/program you would like to travel to 

4. How do you see this opportunity impacting your future 

Return completed essay to 

the EHS Counseling Office no later than 3:30 pm on Wednesday, May 4th, 2021. 

Personal Statement 

You will need to write a 1-2 page personal statement that addresses the following questions: 

  • Why are you applying for this scholarship? 

  • What are your goals for the future? 

  • What is the most difficult experience you have had to overcome in your life so far?
